Where are the Villas loated?
We are located towards the east end of the island of Roatan approximately 35 minutes east of the airport. Only 15 minutes from French Harbour with supermarkets, restaurants, banks, golf, scuba and more
Questions about the Villas
Is there grocery shopping nearby?
There are two well-stocked supermarkets on the island which carry a fair range of American goods, but are obviously more expensive than in the US. Chicken, seafood of all types, fruit and vegetables are in abundance. Liquor and beer is significantly cheaper than back home. Eldon’s, located in French Harbour, is the closest supermarket to Villas Del Mar.
What should I pack?
Whatever clothes you bring will be too much. Formality is nonexistent on Roatan. Bring your swimsuit. Don’t forget a supply of insect repellent- we use the spray bottles of "Off"- and don’t forget your suntan lotion! There is a strictly enforced limit of 5 lbs of meat per person. You are not allowed to carry in chicken or dairy products, but neither restriction is a problem as it is readily available on the island.
A simple checklist to better prepare you for your trip:
- Medication: Plan to bring all of your own medication, even the common over the counter variety. Pack mosquito repellent spray and lots of sun screen.
- Camera: Be sure to bring your digital camera. This will be a vacation you’ll not soon want to forget! A disposable underwater camera is also a great idea.
- A small flashlight: Many of the islands smaller restaurants are not well lit. A small flashlight will really help along small, narrow paths.
- Favorite books, videos and music: Great for when you are relaxing in the afternoons.
- Bring: your local drivers license, especially if you are driving a car.
- "C" card: Required card for all certified divers who do not need instruction.
- A spare Xerox copy: of your passport.
- Money: Only bring US dollars and/or lempiras. None of the island banks will accept any other forms of currency. Leave your checkbook at home. These may get lost or stolen, and personal checks are not accepted at any of the local banks.
- Clothing: Think casual and comfortable! Shorts, T-shirts, bathing suits and sandals are the norm. We also recommend that all expensive jewelry be left at home.
- Towels: We provide all beach towels.
- Snorkel Gear: We provide a full range of snorkel gear.
- iPod: The Villas have an iPod connection to the stereo systems.
What activities should I plan?
- Take advantage of our free boat trips to the reef for snorkeling or sunning on Shaya Manzi.
- Book a massage, a manicure or one of the other services offered by our on-site spa, Spa Tranquilidad.

Visit the quaint village of Oakridge, some ten minutes drive away.

Take a water taxi through the mangrove canals and see the houses built on stilts over the water.
- Book the Shaya Manzi for a day trip to one of the surrounding islands or cays.

Have lunch in one of the great little restaurants right on the water. One of our favorites is "Hole-in-Wall" which offers an-all-you-can-eat surf and turf buffet on Sundays in their shack right over the water, all for about $25!

Take the car to colorful West End with its bars, restaurants, dive shops and souvenir stores.

Swing through the treetops on Roatan’s great Canopy Tour. It is located on the road to West Bay, and the second is located 15 minutes west of the Villas just before Fantasy Island.

Go diving on the incredible coral reef that surrounds the island. Not a diver? No problem! Take a course while you’re here with one of the many professional dive shops. Two dive shops are located within 10 minutes of the Villas.
- Go golfing - Fuego del Mar has a corporate membership at The Black Pearl Golf Course located on Roatan’s beautiful North Shore. Our guests receive preferential tee time reservations!

Relax on the beautiful sandy beach at West Bay.

Maybe just stay at home, enjoy the view and grill lobster or fresh fish bought from the local fishermen.

Travel Questions
Are there direct flights from the US to Roatan?
Roatan is easily accessible from the US with direct flights from Houston on Thursdays, Saturdays (2 flights) and Sundays) on Continental Airlines. Check their web site for other days of the week depending on the season. Delta offers direct flights from Atlanta on Saturday. TACA flys direct from Miami and through San Salvador from various west coast cities. Flights from Newark are opperated by Continental. Daily flights on Continental and American are available to San Pedro Sula on the mainland, with a short connecting flight to the island.
There are also charter flights from Toronto with Sun Wing and from Milan, Italy
How do I find the Villas Del Mar?
You will be met at the
airport by our Property Manager who will drive you to your villa and introduce you to the
house and the staff.
